Ahead of its public debut on August 14 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week, Hennessey has revealed the stunning new Blackbird—a $2.5 million, naturally aspirated, manual-transmission grand touring hypercar. Limited to just 71 examples worldwide, the 220 mph flagship is designed, engineered, and built in Texas, blending breathtaking performance with a refreshingly analog driving experience.
Rather than allowing performance figures to dictate the design, Hennessey began with a more emotional goal: creating a car people would desire before the engine ever fires. Every surface, proportion, and aerodynamic detail was developed to create a lasting visual impact while remaining faithful to the car’s purpose.
That philosophy extends throughout the Blackbird. Instead of chasing fleeting design trends, Hennessey has focused on timeless proportions, elegant surfacing, and mechanical authenticity, with the intention that the car will feel just as compelling decades from now as it does today.
As Nathan Malinick, Hennessey Director of Design, explains:

Inside, the Blackbird embraces the same philosophy. The cockpit favors physical controls over touchscreen complexity, placing the driver firmly at the center of the experience. A prominent central tachometer anchors the dashboard, while a six-speed gated manual gearbox, exposed shift linkage, traditional ignition key, and clean, uncluttered controls celebrate the mechanical connection between driver and machine.
Technology hasn’t been ignored—only thoughtfully restrained. Navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are accessed through the driver’s own device, secured in a bespoke Hennessey holster, eliminating the need for a conventional infotainment screen while preserving modern connectivity.
Power comes from an all-new naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 developed in partnership with Ilmor Engineering. Producing a targeted 800 to 850 horsepower and revving beyond 9,000 rpm, the engine is paired exclusively with the six-speed manual transmission. A bespoke carbon-fiber tub, lightweight carbon bodywork, adaptive suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and a target weight of under 3,000 pounds provide the performance credentials expected of a modern hypercar without overshadowing its analog character.
Unlike many cars in this rarefied segment, the Blackbird was conceived not only for exhilarating drives but for genuine long-distance touring. Hennessey targets more than 800 miles of driving in a single day, aided by a spacious cabin, expansive glasshouse, adaptive suspension, generous luggage capacity, and thoughtful everyday touches—including room for two carry-on bags and, perhaps most unexpectedly, four cup holders.
The Blackbird is a reminder that the future of the hypercar doesn’t have to be defined by electrification or digital excess.
