At first glance, it’s clear that the first-ever Bentley Torcal is bringing a new kind of forward-thinking design to Bentley’s contemporary craftsmanship — and may have you rethinking what modern luxury looks like. Created by Design Director Robin Page and his in-house team at Crewe, the low, sleek SUV introduces a bold new design language while remaining rooted in Bentley’s DNA.
“When we design a Bentley, we consider how people naturally perceive an object. You don’t experience a car all at once. There is a hierarchy to what you see and understand, which we describe through four ‘reads,’” says Robin.
Sleek and minimalist, both Torcal models have incredible road presence, led by a floating diamond grille illuminated by 76 hand-applied LED diamonds. Inside, ergonomic curved screens meet handcrafted veneers and upholstery crafted from sumptuous leather and sustainable, suede-like Dinamica. Meanwhile, Bentley Dynamic Symphony uses the sound of real musical instruments to transform the raw emotion of a V8 exhaust note into something entirely new.
The first read is proportion. Torcal’s long wheelbase, short overhangs and proud frontal aspect create a powerful stance and embody “upright elegance,” one of Bentley’s guiding design principles. Combined with the idea of an “endless bonnet,” these elements emphasise the car’s length, presence and unmistakable Bentley character.
The Torcal deliberately reduces unnecessary lines, allowing its surfaces and proportions to create emotion and character. This is most evident in the powerful rear haunches. The cabin tapers toward the rear, allowing the body to build over the rear wheels and creating what the design team describes as the “resting beast” — a sense of strength and energy contained within the sculpture. The diamond pattern becomes a recurring thread throughout the Torcal, sometimes clearly expressed and elsewhere abstracted into surfaces, textures and patterns.
Inside, the dashboard draws on Bentley’s signature wings, balancing symmetry and strength with leather, wool, veneer and aluminium. Knurled controls and reinterpreted bullseye air vents add tactile detail, while physical controls remain where you naturally want them.
The new seats bring 16-way adjustment, heating, ventilation, adjustable bolsters and massage, with Bentley’s Postural Adjust and Smart Seat Climate systems available to enhance long-distance comfort. The Wellness Seat Specification extends massage into the leg cushions, while rear seats introduce power folding for the first time in a Bentley.
Made for the journey, the Torcal combines agile handling with off-road composure and four Experience Modes that bring light, sound, climate, airflow and digital information together to shape the mood inside the cabin.
The Torcal offers up to 375 miles of range and charging speeds of up to 400 kW, with a 10-to-80-percent charge taking a claimed 16 minutes. Seven minutes can add around 100 miles.
Now for the good stuff. The standard Torcal produces 821 PS and 1,155 Nm of torque, reaching 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. The Torcal S ups that to 888 PS and 1,350 Nm, cutting the sprint to 2.8 seconds and raising top speed to 162 mph. It also becomes Bentley’s most powerful production car ever.
