From the shores of Lake Como at Villa d’Este, the rain clouds finally parted as the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este unfolded in full cinematic grandeur. Against the backdrop of one of the world’s most elegant automotive gatherings, the new Vision BMW ALPINA made its world premiere before a distinguished crowd of collectors, designers, enthusiasts, and industry insiders who return each year to celebrate the artistry, heritage, and enduring romance of the automobile.
Presented during the legendary concours hosted by Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the Vision BMW ALPINA signals more than a design exercise. It marks the beginning of a new chapter for the storied Alpina marque—one defined by extreme capability, cultivated sophistication, and a renewed focus on the seamless balance between performance and comfort.
“Alpina has always represented a very specific idea of performance and refinement—where speed and comfort are complementary ambitions,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design. “Our role as the new custodians of this brand is to preserve this distinctiveness and shape it for a contemporary context. Vision BMW ALPINA shows how these qualities can be expressed with discipline and modernity, suggesting the direction for the brand as we move it into the future.”

The Vision BMW ALPINA is a respectful interpretation of the brand’s heritage, reimagined through a distinctly contemporary lens. Measuring 5,200 mm in length, the grand touring coupé possesses a commanding presence—wide, low, and confidently restrained. Its long, sweeping roofline immediately communicates both speed and elegance while promising genuine comfort for four adults.
Power comes from a V8 powertrain engineered to deliver the unmistakable character of an Alpina exhaust note: rich and subdued at lower speeds, then increasingly sonorous as the revs rise. The experience is designed not around aggression, but around cultivated performance—an essential distinction that has long defined the Alpina philosophy.
At the front, the car’s sculptural volumes and forward-leaning stance suggest speed without unnecessary theatrics. The signature shark nose reinterprets BMW’s kidney grille as a three-dimensional architectural form, guiding the eye across the vehicle with quiet authority while framing the emblem with remarkable precision.
From this dramatic front fascia, the exterior is organized around a singular visual gesture known as the “speed feature line.” Rising from the lower front corners at a six-degree inclination, the line travels along the body and wraps elegantly around the rear of the car. The effect is subtle yet dynamic—assertive enough to imply motion while remaining refined and disciplined.
Inside, the cabin embraces a more architectural approach to luxury. Space, materiality, and technology are treated with equal consideration, with each component designed as an individual sculptural element rather than absorbed into a uniform interior landscape. The six-degree speed feature line continues through the cabin, separating the darker upper section from the lighter lower interior.
Full-grain leather sourced from producers throughout the Alpine region is paired with stitching inspired by classic Deco-line detailing, reinforcing the vehicle’s dialogue between heritage craftsmanship and modern execution.
BMW has confirmed that the first production model from this new era of the BMW ALPINA brand will arrive next year. Inspired by the BMW 7 Series yet unmistakably ALPINA in character, it promises to continue the marque’s tradition of elevated grand touring with a distinctly contemporary perspective.
