We are fervent supporters of electrification, especially after our immersive experience with the new BMW i7 in LA and Palm Springs. However, the BMW i7 M70 takes things to a phenomenal new level of exhilaration and innovation.

This all-electric high-performance model, positioned at the pinnacle of the 7 Series range, will leave you breathless when you step on the pedal. Yet, we appreciate BMW for electronically capping it at 155 mph. Any faster, and you’ll have to hand the reins over to Bill Auberlen – but we’ll delve into more about him at another time.

The 2024 BMW i7 M70 xDrive boasts dual electric motors, delivering a formidable total system output of 650 horsepower. Its M-tuned chassis strikes a superb balance between electric mobility and performance, making it the fastest fully electric BMW model to date. During our test time in coastal Portugal, we had the pleasure of driving this masterpiece of engineering and design.
The standard xDrive all-wheel drive system ensures optimal power distribution. The rear motor achieves a peak output of 483 horsepower, complemented by the 255 horsepower motor at the front axle. This all-wheel-drive configuration crafts a masterpiece of power on the road. Knowing you can accelerate from 0 to 60 in just 3.5 seconds is bound to bring a smile, for as they say, knowing something is as good as doing it.

Approaching the BMW i7 M7, you’ll be struck by its confident design. The contour lighting for the BMW kidney grille makes a visual impact. Our test car, fitted with the optional M Performance Professional package, featured an illuminated grille surrounded by Black high-gloss trim for the first time.
This model is the fastest all-electric BMW ever built, with M-specific design elements adorning its flanks and rear. Sculpted M side skirts, front side panels with bordered M logos, M High-gloss Shadow line trim, and black M exterior mirrors with the signature twin-stalk design add sporting flair. The rear apron with a diffuser insert completes the expressive appearance.

The selection of available exterior paint shades is noteworthy, including some exclusively reserved for BMW M models, along with striking matte-finish Frozen options. However, the two-tone paintwork on our press car truly steals the show.
Behind the BMW Curved Display in the cockpit, spending time on highways and country roads left us with an emotionally engaging performance experience. This luxury sedan, which happens to be exceptionally fast, embodies the pinnacle of M Power.
