Not long ago, BMW invited us to the BMW Performance Driving School in Spartanburg, South Carolina, for an exclusive viewing session with the 2026 BMW iX. From the moment we arrived, the iX commanded attention with its expressive presence—starting with that striking BMW kidney grille.
Approaching the new iX, it’s evident that BMW’s design team has distilled its styling language to its essence, emphasizing clean, sculpted surfaces that highlight the vehicle’s muscular stance. The bold front end is defined by a redesigned grille, now featuring an intricate pattern of vertical and diagonal lines within its frame. For an extra touch of sophistication, grille illumination is available on the iX xDrive45 and iX xDrive60, while it comes standard on the high-performance iX M70 xDrive.
BMW has taken everything we loved about the iX and elevated it for 2026—more power, more dynamic performance, and greater efficiency. The latest advancements in drive and high-voltage battery technology, combined with refinements in BMW EfficientDynamics, enhance both the power output and range of the iX. As the first-ever BMW SAV designed from the ground up to be fully electric, the new iX redefines what an all-electric luxury SUV can be.
For 2026, the BMW iX is available in three variants, each offering a blend of power and efficiency. The iX xDrive45 delivers 402 hp with an estimated range of up to 312 miles, while the iX xDrive60 increases output to 536 hp and extends the range to approximately 340 miles. For those seeking peak performance, the iX M70 xDrive stands apart with up to 650 hp, an estimated range of 302 miles, and a blistering 0-60 mph time of just 3.6 seconds. When equipped with performance tires, it reaches an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph, making it the ultimate expression of BMW’s electric innovation.
Beyond its refined performance, the iX debuts updated headlights featuring redesigned vertical daytime running lights and turn indicators. The sleek evolution of the kidney grille seamlessly flows into the rear, where a more modern aesthetic completes the vehicle’s commanding presence.
