The Volkswagen Atlas family has been a favorite among the thousands of drivers looking for style in their people mover, making it one of the best-selling SUVs today, thanks to its driving dynamics and attention to detail. For the 2024 model year, VW has taken its design a step further and has put other SUVs on notice with a significant refresh for all Atlas models, featuring interior upgrades with premium materials and an even more upscale elegant design.
As you approach the new Atlas, the first thing that catches your eye is the redesigned front end, which sets it apart from the Atlas Cross Sport. The wide chrome four-bar grille frames the LED headlights that feature the newly standard Adaptive Front-lighting System. SEL Premium R-Line models showcase a gloss-black grille. The Daytime Running Lights wrap around the headlights, creating a clean design that leads into an illuminated lightbar crowned by the distinctive VW logo, giving the vehicle an unmistakably premium look. The new front fascia with integrated air intakes completes the striking front-end treatment.
Among the SUV family, the standout is the adventure-chic Atlas Peak Edition. It immediately distinguishes itself with a rugged front fascia and silver underbody cladding. A bold gloss-black “X” design element stretches across the lower fascia, borrowed from the Atlas Cross Sport. Two chrome strips add flair to the blacked-out grille, flowing to either side of the illuminated logo. Moving to the sides of the Peak Edition models, the gloss-black large badge with the Peak Edition logo in orange and chrome enhances the look, meeting rugged side sills in black and silver. Black mirror caps, window surrounds, and roof rails complete the black-out appearance in profile.
Step inside the Atlas, and you’ll find the classic Volkswagen charm combined with major upgrades for the 2024 model year. Premium materials throughout include a leatherette-trimmed soft-touch dash and center console. The front-row door trim and décor seamlessly flow into the dash panel, creating an upscale cockpit mirrored in the second row. The addition of available ambient lighting, offering 30 color choices, complements the innovative backlit dash décor, displaying the model name and further elevating the interior design.
The Atlas Peak Edition features a striking Titan black leatherette interior with light grey accents and orange contrast stitching. Stainless steel pedal caps and dash and door inserts in a black metallic check pattern add to the distinctiveness of this edition. The steering wheel clip bears the same logo as the exterior badging, and the ambient lighting with 30 color choices further enhances the “Peak Edition” theme.
As always, the Atlas prioritizes comfort and convenience for drivers and passengers alike. The redesigned center console includes a storage cubby underneath, and all models come standard with three-zone Climatronic® automatic climate control, a heated steering wheel with shift paddles, Voice Control, and five-door KESSY® keyless access on front doors with push-button start. SE w/Technology trim levels add remote start and a rear sunshade, while SEL Premium R-Line models include an R-Line logo on the MIB3 start screen, an R-Line steering wheel clip, and stainless steel pedal caps.
The refreshed Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport feature enhanced technology for a more connected experience. At the center of the redesigned cockpit is a 12-inch floating infotainment display, providing an elegant focal point. Connecting devices is effortless with standard wireless App-Connect, wireless charging, and six USB-C ports (eight available). Furthermore, all USB-C ports, except the rearview mirror port, feature 45-watt fast charging. The advanced Volkswagen Digital Cockpit system, standard on all Atlas models, adds to the technological sophistication.
From the latest-generation 4Motion with Active Control all-wheel-drive system to the impressive Drive Mode Select, which allows drivers to choose specific vehicle profiles based on driving conditions, the new Atlas is a versatile fit for families and anyone seeking ample space. With more standard content, including high-end comfort features like Climatronic®, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel, as well as the IQ.DRIVE® suite of driver assistance features, the new 2.0-liter turbo powertrain replaces the previous four-cylinder and VR6® options, offering better torque and acceleration, improved fuel economy, and the rugged elegance of the Atlas Peak Edition.
