As BMW continues to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of M, what better way to celebrate than to travel to BMW CCA Foundation’s The Ultimate Driving Museum in Greer, South Carolina? In addition to checking out classic BMWs during our visit, we also had the thrilling opportunity to drive a few. As this is the beginning of our “BMW Power of M Classic Celebration” series, we will be spending time with our favorite M cars from the past. starting with the 2013 M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition, of which only 200 copies were built.
In late 2012, Skip Barber, the former owner of the historic Lime Rock Park racing circuit located in northwestern Connecticut described this car as “a classic car for a classic track.” Priced from $70,995 the M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition was built to celebrate the longstanding relationship between BMW automobiles, the famed Lime Rock Park racing circuit, and the thousands of passionate drivers and fans who join them together.
This rare Fire Orange classic features Anthracite and Black cloth seating with Nappa leather trim. The popular Competition Package was fitted with M3’s signature carbon fiber composite roof panel, lightweight Inconel titanium exhaust muffler, carbon fiber front, and rear aerodynamic aids, and an Anthracite Alcantara covered flat-bottom steering wheel. Finally, each M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition is identified by a numbered plaque located on the center console, a unique decal on the left-rear quarter window, and a certificate of authenticity.
Lime Rock Park is one of America’s most recognized road racing venues and has been continuously operated since its opening in 1957. The M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition is just the classic needed to conquer it. Fun fact! Out of 200 examples, 128 are fitted with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and the remaining 72 are fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission.
