Phantom Centenary Private Collection

The Spirit of Ecstasy, Reimagined in Gold

There are cars—and then there are Rolls-Royces. The Phantom Centenary Private Collection isn’t just a milestone; it’s a moment in time. Created to honor the 100th anniversary of the legendary Phantom, this ultra-exclusive release is limited to just 25 motor cars, each a bespoke expression of craftsmanship and history that redefines what a collector’s edition can be.

At UnnamedProject, we journeyed to Goodwood, England—the spiritual home of Rolls-Royce—to experience the Centenary Phantom before its debut on the marque’s immaculate campus. Even among the rarified air of Goodwood, this was something else entirely.

“The Rolls-Royce Phantom Centenary Private Collection is our tribute to 100 years of the world’s most revered luxury item,” says Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “This uncompromising work of art uses the meticulously engineered Phantom VIII as the canvas to tell the story of Phantom’s remarkable life and the people who shaped it.”

That story unfolds not only through history but through artistry—40,000 hours of it. The Bespoke Collective of designers, engineers, and artisans immersed themselves in Phantom’s lineage, studying every generation from the 1920s to today. The result is the most technologically ambitious and complex Bespoke commission in Rolls-Royce’s history.

An Exterior Inspired by Cinema’s Golden Age

Finished in a shimmering Bespoke two-tone paint, the Phantom Centenary is pure theatre. Its long-sided silhouette nods to the flowing lines of 1930s Phantoms—the ones that graced red carpets and carried silver-screen icons. The body is presented in Super Champagne Crystal over Arctic White, with the upper in Super Champagne Crystal over Black.

The finish itself is a feat of innovation. Rolls-Royce specialists replaced traditional clear flakes with champagne-colored iridescent glass particles, doubling the quantity to achieve an ethereal shimmer that dances between elegance and luminosity. Under sunlight, it’s as if the car were lit from within.

Evoking the monochrome majesty of a vintage film star, the Centenary Phantom pays tribute to the glamour of Hollywood’s golden age—when Phantom wasn’t just a car, but a co-star.

Inside: A Century of Stories, Sewn in Silk and Gold

An Heirloom for the Future

Step inside, and you enter a gallery—one that captures a hundred years of artistry and aspiration. The rear seats are upholstered in a high-resolution printed fabric developed in collaboration with a fashion atelier, complete with 160,000 precision stitches. The front seats are laser-etched with hand-sketched linework inspired by Phantom’s storied heritage.

The woodwork is among the most intricate ever undertaken by Rolls-Royce, introducing three marque firsts: 3D marquetry, 3D ink layering, and 24-carat gold leafing. Every surface reads like a passage from an illuminated manuscript—a chronicle of elegance, innovation, and endurance.

As Phil Fabre de la Grange, Head of Bespoke, explains, “Phantom Centenary is the most intricate and technologically ambitious Private Collection ever undertaken. Developed over three years, it blends metal, wood, paint, fabric, leather, and embroidery into a single, stunning composition. The surfaces read like a book revealing 100 years of Phantom’s history, rich with symbolic references for clients to admire and decipher over many years to come.”

Crowning this masterpiece is a reimagined Spirit of Ecstasy—the most iconic automotive sculpture in the world. Taking the original 1925 casting as inspiration, the emblem is now crafted in solid 18-carat gold and plated in 24-carat gold for a flawless, tarnish-resistant finish. It’s not just an ornament—it’s the centennial jewel in Rolls-Royce’s crown.

Each of the 25 Phantom Centenary Private Collection motor cars stands as a living archive—celebrating not only what Rolls-Royce has achieved but what it continues to inspire. A symbol of ambition, artistry, and permanence, the Centenary Phantom doesn’t just commemorate a century of excellence—it defines the next one.
