Lexus always adds a spark to the high stake luxury game and the all-new 2023 RX is no exception with the addition of extraordinary refinement to its fabulous legacy. For 2023 the RX is offered in six grades: Standard, Premium, RX-first Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Handling, and RX-first F SPORT Performance.
With an RX to fit any lifestyle, we wanted to give each of the six grades the attention they deserve and we will start with RX 500h F SPORT Performance AWD in Copper Crest.
This RX is the perfect marriage of style and power, and in the becoming Copper Crest, you are guaranteed to make a style statement. Built on more than 20 years of hybrid electric technology and experience, the RX 500h F SPORT Performance introduces a new hybrid electric system for the Lexus brand with a front unit that integrates a high-torque 2.4-liter turbo engine, six-speed automatic transmission, inverter, and an electric motor, with an eAxle rear unit that integrates a high output electric motor, inverter, and reduction gearbox.
Our F SPORT Performance was outfitted with the available DRS system that gave us impressive maneuverability while at higher speed maneuvers, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels to give a clear, stable turning response. At slower speeds, the rear wheels can seamlessly turn in the opposite direction as the front wheels for seamless low-speed maneuverability.
This configuration allows the electric motor to provide low-end torque that helps to provide improved performance and quick acceleration. The turbocharged engine produces high torque throughout its entire rev range, delivering powerful acceleration even at higher speeds.
Outside is complete with exclusive front and rear bumpers, and a piano black grille and accents. Its exclusive 21-inch wheels wear Michelin® Pilot Sport® tires made from a bespoke compound and tread pattern. Additional black accents and body-colored sills distinguish the Performance mode as something exceptional.
Inside our F SPORT Performance, the exclusive steering wheel and meter reside in front of the driver, while pedals are trimmed with aluminum. Sporty metal decorates the cabin, specifically on the dashboard and cup holder surrounds. Grade-specific front seats offer improved bolstering during cornering. Rioja Red and Black color themes can be selected for an athletic look and feel, we also love our F SPORT Performance that was even more distinct with darkened side sill and steering wheel logos.
It is hard to think that it was back in 1998 when we first all saw an RX, now fast-forward 20 years to RX’s five generations that have redefined the luxury crossover space. And from first to fifth, a vibrant verve known as omotenashi, or anticipatory hospitality, has perpetuated in their crafting, compelling designers and engineers to exceed the ever-demanding requirements of guests.
