I have been talking about Tesla for over a decade, but as we found out not long ago on our Lucid Air first drive, there’s a new entry in the EV segment that is stealing all the headlines. The very successful start-up started delivering high-end versions of its Air electric sedan last year, but now it’s ready to push the pedal to the floor by introducing more mass-appeal versions.

Lucid celebrated the launch of the new Pure and Touring versions of the Air sedan at its Beverly Hills studio. The pricing for the Air Pure starts at $87,500, and the Air Touring arrives with a $107,400 price tag, which means that the fantastic Air is now more attainable. Lucid’s Beverly Hills studio is ideal on Wilshire Blvd., where you’ll find other luxury brands like Lamborghini, Audi, and Lexus.
At this strategic location, Lucid is positioning itself as a more luxurious EV brand than Tesla, boasting that the Air is basically a “hypercar for every day.”
The Lucid Air Sapphire has hypercar specs with over 1,200 horsepower, and it can sprint to 60 mph in an insanely quick 1.89 seconds, but at the same time, it is also a practical sedan for the family. The Air also sets a new standard with a driving range of up to 516 miles.
Lucid has now started deliveries of the Air Touring, also celebrated at the Beverly Hills studio. Deliveries of the more affordable Air Pure will kick off by the end of the year. Lucid is not stopping, since it has also released teasers of its next EV, the Gravity SUV (more about that soon). Following Gravity, Lucid has confirmed that it will introduce smaller EVs to be even more competitive with Tesla.
