Fashion at its most glorious can romanticize a creator’s inspiration to nearly transcendental heights. Rome, the Eternal City, and the recent new home for designer Kim Jones is immortalized in his collection for Fendi Fall/Winter 2021. Jones, a master at the divine use of delectable fabrics and fairy tale embellishments is so apt and the creation of beauty that he can transform the likes of marble and roman architecture into a historical homage of haute couture.
Set in a classic Roman theatre the film for the collection, shot by director Luca Guadagnino and featuring beloved models including Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, and Amber Valletta enlivens the stone and statues of Rome. The dresses are statuesque, ballroom appropriate, elegant, and purely beautiful. The collection embraces the return of fantasy-filled, full-tilt Haute-socialization and we can only hope such an idea is indeed prophetic. Bravo Kim Jones.
