Launched into a sea of look-alike electric SUVs, the Polestar 3 immediately distinguished itself with design-forward thinking and Scandinavian restraint. A few years on, this all-electric SUV from Polestar has matured into something far more than just a pretty face. Our recent time in the Hamptons with the Polestar 3 revealed a machine that matches its clean aesthetic with performance, intelligence, and a confident presence, on winding roads and in the ever-growing EV space.
The exterior of the Polestar 3 is as much about function as it is about form. While the overall silhouette retains the brand’s signature minimalist appeal, closer inspection reveals a carefully orchestrated aerodynamic strategy. Front and rear aero wings, paired with sharply integrated rear aero blades, don’t just add visual drama—they enhance efficiency and extend range. This attention to detail gives the Polestar 3 a dynamic edge, both visually and in motion. Even at a standstill, it looks like it’s slicing through the air.
Inside, the Polestar 3 continues its philosophy of refined restraint. The cabin is open, sleek, and tastefully high-tech. Surfaces are clean and sustainably sourced, with vegan materials and recycled textiles offered alongside responsibly sourced leather. The floating center console and slim dashboard add to the airy, lounge-like atmosphere—but this is no spa on wheels; it’s a cockpit of the future. The 14.5-inch central touchscreen anchors the interior without overwhelming it, and even the smallest design choices feel intentional, from the sculpted vents to the warm ambient lighting.
On the road—especially on curving back roads—the Polestar 3 reveals a composed and confident personality. Our test vehicle featured the long-range single-motor setup, delivering ample power and over 350 miles of range. If you’re looking for something faster-than-fast, the more powerful 483-hp all-wheel-drive model might be for you. Opting for the Performance trim boosts that to 510 horsepower and adds unique 22-inch wheels. That said, our single-motor Polestar 3 felt exceptionally smooth and well-weighted, with air suspension that adapted effortlessly to changes in terrain and driving style. The steering is sharp without being twitchy, and the SUV hugs the pavement with the poise of a much smaller vehicle. Polestar calls it “performance-oriented luxury,” and we couldn’t agree more.
Then there’s the tech—a showcase of what’s next, without the gimmicks. At its core, the Polestar 3 runs on Android Automotive OS, integrating Google apps and services directly into the vehicle. Google Maps powers navigation, Google Assistant handles voice commands with ease, and Google Play allows for in-car app downloads. It’s seamlessly integrated, never tacked on, and elevates the experience by removing the need to rely on your phone. This is a car that understands your routines and preferences—and keeps updating itself to stay ahead.
Minimalism is often mistaken for a lack of identity, but in the case of the Polestar 3, it’s quite the opposite. Here, restraint becomes a bold statement. The SUV stands out by not shouting. It relies on sculptural beauty, elegant tech, and a graceful drive to communicate confidence. And in a world of overdesigned, oversized, and overcomplicated SUVs, the Polestar 3 offers something that feels surprisingly rare: clarity.
