Lime Wood is not a traditional country house hotel. While its Georgian architecture and sweeping grounds suggest heritage, the experience is shaped by a distinctly modern sensibility—understated, design-led, and quietly confident. Interiors balance antique textures with contemporary clarity: muted palettes, layered textiles, and a lightness of touch that avoids nostalgia.

Rooms and suites are deeply considered. Our Forest Suite opened directly onto the surrounding woodland, with a wood-burning stove, freestanding tub, and tall French doors dissolving the boundary between inside and out. Mornings arrived softly—birdsong, mist, and the sense of being momentarily removed from everything else.

At the center of the property is the Herb House Spa, a three-level space that has continued to evolve in recent years. Alongside its forest-facing hydrotherapy pools and thermal rooms, the spa now leans further into holistic programming—seasonal treatments, expanded wellness partnerships, and an emphasis on nature-led rituals using Bamford products. The rooftop herb garden remains a quiet highlight, offering a panoramic view across the forest canopy.

Dining is integral to the Lime Wood rhythm. Hartnett Holder & Co, led by Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder, continues to define the hotel’s culinary identity. The menu—Italian in spirit, grounded in British seasonality—has an ease and generosity that resists overstatement. It is confident cooking, rooted in craft rather than spectacle.

For something lighter, Raw & Cured has developed into more than a spa café. Its offering now leans toward nutrient-led, seasonal plates—clean, thoughtful, and visually refined—making it as much a destination as a complement to the spa experience.

Recent additions across the estate subtly expand the experience without disrupting its tone. Kitchen gardens, curated outdoor dining moments, and a growing emphasis on sustainability and local sourcing reinforce the connection between place and plate. There is also a renewed focus on experiences beyond the hotel—guided forest walks, foraging, and cycling routes that extend the stay into the surrounding landscape.
