2026 Honda Prelude

Our First Drive

The wait is over. Honda’s hybrid-electric sports coupe is here in the form of the all-new 2026 Prelude, offering a refined alternative to the raw intensity of the Civic Type R. This is not a track-only machine, but a contemporary grand tourer—confident, expressive, and unexpectedly engaging.
Our drive through the winding roads outside San Diego revealed a coupe that feels both composed and playful. Borrowing high-performance chassis hardware from the Civic Type R, including the dual-axis strut front suspension, wide tracks, and large brakes, the Prelude delivers confident handling balanced by everyday comfort. Exclusive tuning, paired with the standard Adaptive Damper System, creates a driving experience that feels modern yet deeply connected.
The debut of Honda’s S+ Shift drive mode adds another layer of involvement, simulating a performance transmission feel that enhances driver engagement without sacrificing refinement. Drive modes—including Comfort, GT, Sport, and Individual—allow the Prelude to adapt seamlessly, adjusting powertrain response, steering weight, suspension damping, engine sound, and even gauge cluster presentation.

Honda’s Modern Grand Tourer

Design plays a leading role. The Prelude is offered in five striking colours, including the new Winter Frost Pearl, available with a body-colour or black roof. Inside, two interior palettes—Blue and White or Black—feature premium materials and contrast stitching that subtly echo exterior accents, including bold blue four-piston Brembo front brake calipers.
Efficient, expressive, and thoughtfully engineered, the new Prelude signals a confident evolution of Honda’s sporting lineage.
