It is no secret that we are big fans of the Genesis brand and we are happy that Motor Trend named the 2019 Genesis G70 its Car of the Year at the annual Motor Trend Awards ceremony held in conjunction with the Los Angeles Auto Show. G70 competed against 19 other Car of the Year award contenders in Motor Trend’s evaluation of the most competent, desirable, and capable vehicles to debut for the 2019 model year. As part of testing, Motor Trend editors put eligible vehicles through their paces on both the street and on the test track to determine a verdict. “The G70 proves you don’t have to compromise; you can have world-class driving dynamics and a smooth, comfortable ride. Power and efficient can be found in the same luxury vehicle,” said Ed Loh, Motor Trend’s editor-in-chief. “Genesis G70 democratizes safety, technology, and luxury, with a price point that will surprise and delight everyone – but its competition.”

The 2019 Genesis G70 luxury sport sedan resets benchmarks and expectations in its class for the holistic integration of leading performance, refined luxury, and aerodynamic style. G70 is the third of six new Genesis models to debut by 2021 and is the final sedan of the lineup. As the first Genesis model in the highly-competitive entry-level luxury segment, G70 outperforms legacy luxury sport sedans with driver-focused performance.

G70 rounds out the Genesis brand’s sedan lineup, joining the G80, G80 Sport, and flagship G90, and the brand will continue to expand its product portfolio to all echelons of the luxury auto market. The performance-focused G70 and the new G70 Sport has been tested in some of the world’s most challenging environments, including Death Valley, northern Sweden, and Germany’s vaunted Nürburgring Nordschleife, to ensure world-class driving dynamics and exceptional durability.

The G70 represents the future direction of the Genesis brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design signature. Its long hood and short overhangs, dynamic roofline, and high beltline characterize a sleek profile. In the side view, the parabolic character line displays kinetic form language with voluptuous curves and smooth surfaces.
