Designer Raf Simons will soon be celebrating his 30th anniversary in fashion. His illustrious career includes stints designing for Jil Sander, Dior, and Calvin Klein, and currently, he is working with Prada. For his spring-summer 2021 collection, the designer brings his “Teenage Dreams’ to the runway.

 

 
 

 

Teenage Dream

Candy-colored knits compliment swirling Pucci inspired printed capes and extended sleeves. The designer uses mid-length vests that are smock-like aprons and the classic trench in defiant layering that, while highly styled, look piecemeal, uncomplicated, gender-ambiguous, and carefree. Within a setting that includes acid green moss and models sporting variations of Prince Valiant haircuts, it seems Simon’s teenage dream is a psychedelic foray into the minds of the free, rebellious, and lanky youth. The designer signature slogans adorn printed pieces and share space with and photo patches that embody ultra-modern geek-chic. The collection is a bohemian rhapsody of unintentional hipsters, a commune of the forever young, a cool collective of fashion independents.
