In choosing your international airline for business travel or a summer getaway, in Europe, or beyond, we recommend award wining TAP Air Portugal. The Tap Air Portugal Stopover Program makes the opportunity to discover Portugal even more inviting. The stopover program allows for a stay, up to five days, in cities, country, before continuing onward. Start your experience in Lisbon, Tap’s gateway hub city to Europe, and many cities throughout the world. The entire country of Portugal has become an extremely popular vacation destination for good reasons including the Portuguese hospitality that is gracious and welcoming. From dynamic Lisbon to the nearby Sintra Mountains and the remote Madeira Islands a wealth of attractions await those with a quest to discover this beautiful, rich and historic land. The country is a travelers dream destination. UNESCO World Heritage sites, ancient villages, grand gardens, fanciful castles, monumental architecture, seaside villages and beach resorts are all near Lisbon and Porto. Visitors can create rewarding itineraries during their time in Portugal and enjoy exclusive program extras. The Stopover Program’s many partners are able to offer a range of incentives for travelers including hotel discounts and complimentary Portuguese wine in restaurants and museum admissions.
If Portugal is your final destination, or if you are continuing to other Tap destinations travel in full luxury and book your flight in Executive Class. The spacious front of cabin in Tap Air Portugal’s new A330neo is equipped with the new version of the Airspace cabin. This new concept was designed to meet Tap’s goal of offer the best product in the industry to its passengers. In addition to the new Airspace cabin interior, the A330neo also incorporate the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 jet turbines and aerodynamic improvements. With its unbeatable economy, versatility and reliability, the A330neo uses up to 14% less fuel per seat, making it the world’s most efficient wide-bodied aircraft.
In Executive Class the carefully selected wine selection compliments the Portuguese inspired dining offerings. From the first course forward I enjoyed Portuguese wines with each course, ending with a deep and rich Port served with a selection of hard and soft Portuguese cheeses. The welcoming service, while never rushed, was efficiently paced to allow for a quiet night flight to Lisbon and extended dining during my wine-tasting, movie watching day flight return.
Under the direction of TAP’s cuisine consultant Vitor Sobral, The “Taste the Stars’ program will bring the flavors of Portuguese cuisine to in-flight meals with creations by Michelin-starred chefs are Henrique Sa Pessoa, Jose Avillez, Miguel Laffan, Rui Paula, Rui Silvestre. These acclaimed chefs, and a handful of rising stars, will make the dining options on Tap Air Portugal exceptional.
To be honest my wine tasting started in Tap Air Portugal’s Premium Lounge at the Lisbon airport. The appealing array of Portuguese small-bites offered in this light filled, colorfully futuristic lounge could only be enjoyed with the flavors of local wines. While in the Premium Lounge, the trays of pastel de nata, the country’s famed egg tarts, made me nostalgic for my day of discovery, hill climbing and sightseeing in Lisbon, and my few days in the quaint and colorful seaside town of Cascais.
The Memmo Principle Real hotel, tucked into a Lisbon hillside and overlooking the city, is an exceptional five-star boutique hotel. Centered in charmingly trendy neighborhood this beacon of style attracts locals and guests to its cocktail bar and Café Principe Real Cafe where Chef Vasco Lello incorporates the influences of Portuguese cuisine throughout the world in his menus. The rooms and suites are crisp, precise and handsome, and service is top-notch. The Memmo Principle Real is designed and managed with a level of sophistication befitting the cosmopolitan and lively city of Lisbon.
I found more sophisticated, refined and energetic dining at the Farol Hotel in Cascais where the restaurants and cocktail lounge attracts connoisseurs of fine food, spirits and joviality. Perched on the rock lined Atlantic Coastline the Farol Hotel is an enclave of high style and graciously hip hospitality. See more on the UnnamedProject.com Farol Hotel Story.
While TAP Air Portugal can take you to great destinations in Europe, Africa, Brazil and beyond taking advantage of the airlines Stopover Program is a value added bonus that can provide an introduction to the many and diverse attraction that make Portugal so special. Tap Air Portugal.
