Each guest room and suite at The Milestone is uniquely decorated. In this Deluxe King guest room crisp white and tones of Wedgewood blue create an oasis of stylish calm.
We’ll never be royals – well most of us won’t be – but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a proper British experience this summer. So if you’re making a quick jaunt to London for a long weekend, and don’t want to be in the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly Circus, The Milestone Hotel, with its old-world opulence and modern amenities, is where you want to stay. Located directly across from Kensington Palace and Hyde Park in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the five-star Grade II hotel is a quintessentially English property that was originally three stand-alone residences: #1, #2 and #3 Kensington Court.
One of 16 properties in the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, The Milestone is the collection’s flagship and was lovingly restored in 1999 by its Founder and President Bea Tollman and her staff. The hotel features 63 rooms and suites, all individually designed, as well as six self-contained apartments for families or those extended stays. All the accommodations exude a well-appointed charm that fits perfectly in its surroundings.

Afternoon English Tea is served in The Park Lounge at the Milestone Hotel.
When you’re ready to dine on modern British fare, Cheneston’s is a must. Their signature dish is the Pot Roast Dover Sole, but head chef Alexandros Diamantis’ menu includes something for everyone – including some of Mrs. Tollman’s personal recipes. After dinner, there’s the aptly named Stables Bar where head bartender Markus will offer you a wide array of classic cocktails and boutique champagnes as you enjoy the room’s decidedly equestrian theme. As you might have guessed already, this area of the hotel was originally a stable. You can also take your drinks to the nearby Conservatory, an enclosed courtyard that is perfect for small, private gatherings.
What’s a trip to London without afternoon tea? The Milestone’s Park Lounge offers an award-winning take on the iconic tradition with finger sandwiches, pastries, an assortment of teas, and occasionally a glass of champagne. In addition to their traditional teas, the hotel also offers a Little Princes and Princesses Afternoon Tea for the little ones, and a Gentleman’s Tea. The former allows children to assist the Pastry Chef in decorating their own cupcakes, while the latter includes an ale or a scotch flight. If you ever want to leave the hotel, go to nearby Royal Albert Hall or the Natural History and Science museums, chauffeured by the Milestone’s Bentley or Range Rover service.
Everything at the Milestone is about attention to detail, and it is that attention to detail that makes this hotel fit for a king… or a queen. redcarnationhotels.com
