Philipp Plein FW20

Andy Warhol would find the Plein phenom fascinating. Is it a spectacle, fashion show, performance art, or is it all of the above?
No matter how it is defined, Philipp Plein has found his place and his skills at design and promotion are equally compelling to his avid fans. Often during a fashion runway presentations, most designers want to keep the focus on the clothing. Even in large shows such as Chanel’s fall show the elaborate stage settings are designed to set a mood that compliments the collection.

Plein's Megashow

Big Boy Toys

Even in large shows such as Chanel’s fall show the elaborate stage settings are designed to set a mood that compliments the collection. At Philipp Plein’s men’s and woman’s runway show, any subtlety was hostage to the toy box of full-size a fighter jet, a helicopter, an offshore boat, and supercars that filled the massive space – all aglow and covered in gold leaf. Plein’s playground for uber-rich that can anything they want, at any time.

The runway show featuring models, influencers and Jada Pinkett Smith, photographer Ellen Von Unwerth, Cameron Dallas, and Maye Musk, mother of you know who…

From the top cue trousers, thigh-high boots, full- length puffer jackets, fringed dresses, and glitter gowns all in shiny metallic gold to rich embroidery the collection proclaimed ATTITUDE and flash. Adorned with crosses and serpents made of precious stones that covering sequined dresses and the models carried exotic skin handbags, the signature material of the designer. Leopard print recurs throughout on tailored jackets, halterneck dresses, mini-skirts, and tights. Men’s sparkled too, wearing sequined dinner jackets and, in true opulent style, a shaved-mink coat and jacket. Popping out among the dazzling accessories there are crystal-embellished clutch bags resembling platinum credit cards.

In the finale PHILIPP Plein pays a touching tribute to the late great basketball legend Kobe Bryant with an exclusive capsule of number 24 Laker shirts. PHILIPP Plein also donated in his memory to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation in honor of Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
