Calvin Luo SS 2020

Calvin Luo Takes Paris

Designer Calvin Luo looked to Paris for this spring-summer 2020 collection and presentation. Taking inspiration from the Woody Allen movie ‘Midnight In Paris’ Luo created a mélange of looks befitting fashion eras and dramatizing the city of light, fashion, intrigue, and ingénues. Even when looking back in time for inspiration Luo a graduate of Parson’s School of Design in 2014, never excludes his modern-day aesthetic and he imprints each design with modern updates be they romantic, dramatic or gender-defying. Showing at the intimate and famed Maxim’s the designer’s three-part presentation was very ‘West Bank Story’… with the jets and sharks competing with for their turf in the fashion universe.

Spring Summer 2020

Midnight in Paris

Luo modernity, a low hanging full skirt revels the tapering of a bodysuit, sheer blouse over neon orange bra-top, competing stripes, feather adornments, sparkling paillettes slips under skirts, chevron stripes and muscle tanks bring the most retro of the looks to modern-day with a chic undertone. In his most skillful way, Luo empowers the ingénues with bold colors, reveling tapers, and some street cred. The men in the show, while archetypes are equally propelled to be both innocent in their boyish dress and beguiling with their sexuality. Luo brings youthful energy to his latest collection while embracing self-expression and creativity. Calvin Luo.
