Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition

Don’t let the long name, Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition turn you away from a fantastic SUV. Going forward, Velar SVAD will be our shorthand for this SUV.

When the Special Vehicle Operations unit of Jaguar Land Rover got a hold of the Range Rover Velar it was just a matter of time before the team of 200 automotive specialists would turn out a world‑class track-ready SUV. A stellar SUV that can hold court with the best from Germany and in some cases even surpass their high performance.

The Velar SVAD is the fastest and quickest Velar ever and its sleek lines make it the best-looking SUV on the roads today. With its supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine with 550hp that accelerates from 0-60 mph in about 4.3 seconds, you have an SUV that can handle the highways with ease and power to traverse where there are no roads at all. From gravel roads to deep gravel mud, you can drive a trail rather than hike it all the while keeping mud off the Gucci ‘hiking’ shoes.

The team at Land Rover electronically limited top speed at 170 mph on the Velar SVAD and even with this limitation everyday commutes can still be nearly as thrilling as track driving with the responsive drive mode selections.

Just Damn Fantastic!

Developing the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is the kind of task Special Vehicle Operations was made for,” said Michael van der Sande, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations. “The challenge here was to increase performance without compromising the composure, capability, and refinement inherent in the Range Rover Velar. We’ve done this and, in the process, created an SUV that strikes a brilliant balance between go-anywhere practicality, dynamic performance and relaxing comfort – it truly is an SUV for any occasion.”

Outstanding Materials And Luxurious Finishes

This new Velar SVAD can be recognized by the visual upgrades in trim finishes that elevate this Range Rover to something special. From the outside, the designers and engineers did slap on details that are distracting and kept the design restrained and purposeful. The development of a new front bumper complete with larger air intakes to feed the supercharged V8 engine nicely fits the design while simultaneously helping to cool the upgraded braking system. The new grille and lower side moldings combine with a revised rear bumper featuring integrated quad exhaust finishers that are bold and aggressive. Even the Range Rover lettering on the hood and tailgate have been enhanced with a knurled finish on the metal element of the two-piece letters, adding a fresh degree of sophistication to the exterior.

“Our continued evolution is driven by a relentless focus on creating highly desirable vehicles our customers will love for life,” said Gerry McGovern, Chief Design Officer of Land Rover. “The new Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition amplifies the highly desirable nature of the 2018 World Car Design winner by introducing a compelling combination of heightened performance and luxury.” Inside the double-stitched, perforated and quilted Windsor leather is unique to the Velar SVAD, other special touches inside include a specially contoured rim and tactile aluminum gear shift paddles. Within the center console, the rotary gear selector and circular control dials for the InControl Touch Pro™ Duo infotainment system all feature a sophisticated knurled finish3. Our photo car had the optional carbon fiber pack that added a contemporary feel to the cabin. The Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is part of a very exclusive SUV club, with Mercedes AMG and BMW M’s dominating this track-ready SUV segment, this competitive addition will definitely up the ante.
