Le Pyjama Rose

Dressing for extended periods of ‘home time’ does not incentivize the fashion set to shine nor does it inflame the creative spark of masterful designers. The defining of style in a time of crisis is an elusive endeavor. Designer Lutz Huelle found his inspiration for his spring/summer 2021 collection in a place often overlooked yet bountiful to the acutely aware, themselves. His collection ‘Le Pyjama Rose’ blossomed from Huelle’s lockdown garb and an exploration of the versatility and comfort of the pajama, and by extension house dressing. From the indulgent pink PJ’s the designer created housecoats with poufy taffeta sleeves. Dresses and blouses are loose and can be self-styles to reveal more if desired, ditto with the poufy sleeves. T-shirt dress with gala worthy taffeta trim turns the slouchy too cheeky-chic. The designer’s use of denim in the collection demonstrates the brilliance of contradiction. At once looking craft-inspired and pieced together, jackets and skirts are couture cut and tailored to add contour to the more fluid pieces throughout the collection. Why not be chic when the discos are closed? Fashion should be fun, flirty, confident, and comfortable, especially now, and Huelle’s feel-good collection is the perfect prescription for spring-summer 2021. Lutz Huelle.
