It’s hard to believe that it was about 20 years ago the Lexus IS came to the US and since that debut, the IS has carved out a legion of owners in the compact luxury sports car segment.
In the Lexus showroom, the IS F Sport is very bold with a new athletic silhouette, with a design that emphasizes its low and wide proportions. The Lexus IS F Sport is truly a global vehicle.

For this new model year, the IS F SPORT lineup is been restructured with F SPORTs only be offered on the IS 350 powered by the 311-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, and the fantastic F SPORT features that make this Lexus a sexy beast to behold. Starting with its unique front bumper complete with functional aerodynamic enhancements and grille surround, and continuing to the rear bumper, it is the detail that includes the rear lip spoiler and rocker molding, and F SPORT exhaust and diffuser that announces aggression and aerodynamic dynamism. The unique F SPORT badges that adorn the sides and rear of the vehicle will let everyone know this is a special Lexus.
Inside the new IS, stainless-steel scuff plates adorn the door sills along with fabulous F SPORT front seats that offer standard heated and ventilated functions. A heated leather-wrapped steering wheel with unique center ornament, perforated leather-wrapped shifter, and F SPORT combination instrumentation meter had us grinning from ear to ear, as do unique F SPORT accelerator pedal, brake pedal, and footrest. Unique F SPORT door accents are highlighted with black geometric film window switch surrounds. Active Sound Control has been improved to further enhance the exhilarating performance notes of the V6 engine while reducing unpleasant tones.
While driving the new IS F SPORT it was very hard to find a fault with this new Lexus which seems to do everything right. From our stop-and-go city traffic and to the congested highway we encountered the Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound Audio System with a 17-speakers had us awed with the new LP from country-soul artist Valerie June.
Once we finally reached the curvy beach road we moved our drive select mode Sport S+, which provides advanced engine and transmission mapping to enhance performance and we were on our way to driving pleasure.
Lexus had found a way to serve luxury with performance, and the proof is that there may be no greater fan of IS than Toyota President Akio Toyoda, who notes the vehicle’s special place in his heart during the introduction to the Art of Lexus book, where he credits the IS as “The car that really taught me what performance driving was, and it was the moment when my love affair with Lexus began.” Lexus IS
