Kenzo FW 2022

Creative Director Nigo Takes The Stage

Kenzo, an iconic name in the Paris fashion scene for nearly fifty years has been ignited with the appointment of a new artistic director. The fall-winter 2022 show marks the first collection by Nigo who comes to Kenzo with an unmatched following of devotees including co-designers, musicians, celebrities, personalities, and style influencers. With street-cred and business smarts, Nigo is a triple fashion force. His previous endeavors include A Bathing Ape, Billionaire Boys Club, and Human Made, all brilliant cult brands that understand a fashion brand’s place in the youth-quake world.
To Nigo’s great credit, the collection paid respectful homage to Kenzo Takada, who moved to Paris at age 31, from Japan and realized his dream of being a fashion designer. Many inspirations and themes from the storied House of Kenzo appear in this collection including pattern mixing, poppy prints, boating blazers, and sunny tropical colors. Tiger heads, a Kenzo motif was shown throughout the collection. In keeping with the fashion of the times, the Kenzo logo was used for instant ID in prints and edging. Nigo even incorporated some of Kenzo’s sketches into this collection. Nigo, also originally from Japan, added side fastened jackets, wrapped tops, and Japanese-influenced styling to the preppy, brightly fun collection. To mention, notable front-row attendees on hand to hype-machine their besty into the fashion forefront were co-collaborator Pharrell, Kayne West, Julia Fox, Pusha T, Shygirl, Tyler, The Creator, and many more. Kenzo! Boom!. Kenzo.
