Ford has managed to tap into the zeitgeist and awakened the inner emotions of a new generation of hipsters and practical mind drivers alike. We encountered excitement and curiosity from onlookers during our East Hampton antics. From the beach to the market and outside our favorite coffee spot, handfuls of ‘friends’ wanted to see the car, inside and out, and talk about their anticipation for this new Bronco.
Ford said that the Bronco Sport off-road vehicle is a signal for adventure seekers and a welcome return to the roads and trails less traveled. We do agree with that, but we found the ford Bronco Sport offers a lot more thrills. With its standard 4×4 our Bronco Sport lived up to its G.O.A.T. (goes over any type of terrain) heritage – we made the run in deep sand. With engineering that makes the Bronco capable of delivering unsurpassed ground clearance, and its made-for-the-trails approach and departure angles, water fording, obstacle protection, and segment-first trail technologies, this new Sport has a fantastic feel on the highway as well as small-town roads.
Available in five trim levels, including the base model, Big Bend™, Outer Banks™, Badlands™, (our test ride), and First Edition. There is a trim that fits any lifestyle and there are all kinds of factory-backed standalone accessories that will have your Bronco Sport at the ready for adventures on the trails and/or Target parking lot.
The rugged-looking design is an eye-catcher with its signature encapsulated cartridge grille, round headlamps, clean, flat bodysides, and timeless proportions. Our Badlands trim comes standard with 28.5-inch all-terrain tires and its style firmly announces – I can master any terrain.
The Badlands and First Edition series is powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine that produces a targeted best-in-class 245 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque for high-speed off-road performance*. Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks series feature the proven 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine and inside Bronco Sport is designed for real-life on the roads as well as trails including a safari-style roof enabling class-leading headroom and a cargo area.
Other features are an SYNC® 3 system with an 8-inch touch screen and compatibility with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. Other available technology features include Ford+Alexa and SiriusXM™ satellite radio, also the Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of advanced driver-assist technologies is standard across the lineup.
With unmistakable Bronco styling and unrelenting Bronco capability, this smaller sibling of Bronco two-door and first-ever four-door SUVs joins the family with their own brand of fun, adventure, and Bronco-power!
