Cutting Edge Electric Ride By Porsche

This four-door super sedan has the Porsche performance that 911 owners admire and the connectivity for everyday usability. “We promised a true Porsche for the age of electromobility – a fascinating sports car that not only excites in terms of its technology and driving dynamics but also sparks a passion in people all over the world, just like its legendary predecessors have done. Now we are delivering on this promise,” emphasizes Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board of Porsche AG – Research and Development. We spent some time in the first models series the Taycan Turbo S and the Taycan Turbo which are among the most powerful production models that Porsche currently has in its product range. Other less powerful models of these all-wheel-drive vehicles will follow this year. The first derivative to be added will be the Taycan Cross Turismo at the end of next year. By 2022, Porsche will have invested more than six billion dollars in electric mobility. The flagship Turbo S is first to market offering the impressive Launch Control that goes 0–60 mph in 2.6 seconds. The estimated EPA range for the Taycan Turbo is 201 miles. The estimated EPA range for the Taycan Turbo S is 192 miles but we were able to get a range of about 223 in our Turbo S because of the driving mode we selected. Both the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo have two efficient electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear axle, thus making the cars all-wheel drive which was well appreciated on our rainy track day at the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta.  One of the most impressive features of the electric motors is the “hairpin” winding of the stator coils. This technology makes it possible to incorporate more copper in the stator, increasing power output and torque while maintaining the same component volume.

With its contemporary design, the Taycan signals the beginning of a new era in the supersedan segment and the silhouette shaped by the sporty roofline sloping down to the rear is smart, handsome and aerodynamic. Inside the cockpit, the design also signals a new era with its clear structure and completely innovative architecture. The interior includes a freestanding, curved instrument cluster that is focused on the driver with a 10.9-inch infotainment display and an optional passenger display which are combined to form an integrated glass band in a black-panel. All the user interfaces have been completely newly designed for the Taycan. We just got word that the first all-electric sports car from Porsche can now offer an even higher degree of personalization with 90 exclusive options offered by the company’s manufacturing in Zuffenhausen including the Sport Design package in three variants and 21-inch Exclusive Design wheels with carbon aerolites.

The LED matrix headlights with elements in Glacier Ice Blue are particularly fashion-forward and eye-catching. In our opinion go with an even more dynamic statement by choosing any of the three variants of the Sport Design package. Each differs in the inlays in the lower front apron, in the sill panels and the side fins of the diffuser. Depending on the package, these are painted in the exterior color or black (high-gloss) or are made of carbon.
