The First Ever Cadillac XT6

Innovation In A Bold And Beautiful Package

Cadillac has always been known for it’s innovative, arresting and bold design. Their legendary statement making design evolution is evident in the new and elegant 3 rows XT6 and its sexy XT6 sports model sibling. Designed by Andrew Smith, Cadillac’s Executive Director of Design as well as designers Mara Kapsis and Ryan Skelley the XT6 presents a unique sweeping lightness in it aerodynamic and fluid design, all the while announcing itself a Cadillac. We first viewed the Cadillac XT6 at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown and later at Washington DC’s Kreeger Museum, where we had the opportunity to shoot the car in front of the stunning Philip Johnson designed museum. We encountered many curious onlookers, most notably a Volvo owner waiting on the Ritz Carlton’s valet who seemed downright smitten with our ride. Later we really enjoyed having the opportunity to drive car thought the rolling hills and horse farms in and round beautiful Middleburg and Loudoun County, Virginia.

Cadillac added the 2020 XT6, a new three-row SUV to its lineup to appeal to high-income buyers who want luxury and a sporty, day-to-day utility all in one. “These are customers who are in the life stage of having an active lifestyle and they are CEO of everything,” said Jim Hunter, Cadillac product manager. The 2020 XT6 made its public debut at the 2019 North American International Auto Show and is manufactured in Spring Hill, Tennessee, it is available now at dealers.

The design team told us that the XT6 was created to make the most of passengers’ time on the road. This all-new three-row SUV is very luxurious inside and complemented with responsive handling and a comprehensive suite of standard and available safety technologies. “The first-ever Cadillac XT6 delivers a compelling blend of spaciousness, safety and convenience features for customers who thrive on doing it all,” said Steve Carlisle, Cadillac president. “It joins the all-new XT4, which has soared to the top spot in its segment, our global best-selling XT5 and the iconic Escalade to accelerate the brand’s global growth, with a spirit that is uniquely Cadillac.” The moment you walk up to the XT6 you notice the boldness of that front grill design and linear design that continues to the rear design. “The new Cadillac XT6 models provide two expressions of the signature Cadillac experience, allowing more personalized appearance and driving character,” said John Plonka, chief engineer. “Premium Luxury models provide an elevated level of refinement, while Sport models offer a performance-oriented feel.” While driving along the horse farms, grand estates and wineries in Virginia we marveled at the XT6’s balance of responsiveness and refinement.

Cadillac put a greater emphasis on road isolation in the Premium Luxury model and a greater feeling of agility is dialed into the Sport’s chassis tuning. The selectable drive modes allow the XT6 to adapt even better to preferences and changing road conditions. The modes are uniquely calibrated to support the characteristics of the Premium Luxury or Sport models.

AWD is available on Premium Luxury and standard on XT6 Sport. The Sport model features a Sport Control active twin-clutch AWD design that helps enhance the driving experience with active yaw control. Sport models also feature Continuous Damping Control active handling and a faster steering ratio that is designed to give us that more enthusiast-level driving feel the offers increased feedback and greater overall responsiveness. Inside you will find a contemporary interior aesthetic, with elegant, wide surface lines and simple interfaces. It’s an expression that focuses attention on the quality and authenticity of materials and impeccable craftsmanship.

Distinctive trim and interior colors delineate the Premium Luxury and Sport models. Premium Luxury models are trimmed with exotic wood decor, while the Sport features performance-inspired carbon fiber trim. Our test car was filled with features including Cadillac’s first Bose® Performance Series sound system with 14 custom-tuned speakers, semi-aniline premium leather-appointed seating, in-vehicle air ionizer; automatic heated/ventilated front seats and heated second-row rear outboard seats, and a standard automatic heated steering wheel

A 3.6L DOHC V-6 engine powers the XT6 with a nine-speed automatic transmission featuring next-generation Electronic Precision Shift. To enhance fuel efficiency, Active Fuel Management technology enables V-4 operation when V-6 power is not required. The XT6 is the embodiment of the Cadillac brand and an aggressive initiative in bringing high design and a refreshing attitude freshness to the SUV marketplace. Cadillac XT6.
