BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo

BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo

The BMW 6-series Gran Turismo, successor to the former 5-series GT, reveals it specialness with a driver’s first acceleration. In a world filled with SUVs and crossovers the new 6 Series Gran Turismo is a timely and speedy alternative. Our 6 Series Gran Turismo sits up higher than the 5-series GT it replaces,  its “coupe-inspired” 5-door hatchback body provides extra passenger and cargo carrying capability. The fabulous sport design trim is standard, along with adaptive LED headlights, active grille shutter system, and an active rear spoiler that adds just another level of sexiness to this sleek and chic crossover.

Sculptural design language

Statement Making

For A Select Few It's Everything

For those familiar with the recent interiors of the 5 or 7 Series, the 6 Series Gran Turismo’s interior will feel familiar, and innovative. There’s a similar dashboard layout with a 10.25-inch horizontal, tablet like display on top of the dash. A second display is embedded in the center stack for climate control. With 335-horsepower, turbocharged six-cylinder engine with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission this vehicle is a dream to drive at all highway speeds. The all-new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is a generously sized to accommodate a flexible-use interior, while making a style statement that is truly worthy BMW.

“The all-new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is geared towards the new generation that place great importance on individuality. It is an eye-catching statement, packaged into a flowing, sculptural design language that gives the car a modern and sporty feel. The raised seating position ensures an imperious brand of driving pleasure, and the luxurious levels of space provide everything you need for a relaxing journey,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design.

That low-slung silhouette

BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo

Creating its own niche

The low-slung silhouette of the all-new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is something to notice and also benefits its aerodynamic efficiency, which has been improved with a host of other measures. BMW’s Active Kidney Grille system opens moveable slats behind the vertical, fixed kidney grille slats when more cooling air is required, but otherwise keeps them closed to optimize aerodynamic efficiency. The underbody section is almost fully enclosed.

Air Curtains in the lower air intake at the front of the car and Air Breathers behind of the front wheels reduce turbulence in and around the wheel arches to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The active rear spoiler, which automatically extends when the car exceeds 75 mph and retracts again when it slows below 50 mph, helps to reduce lift and improve the drag coefficient. Without getting to more technical the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo shows what happens when a car company listens to their customers demands. BMW executives had one dicate for their highly skilled engeniers and designers – “take that 5 series GT and make it better.” BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo.
