With legendary British Style and unmatched comfort, Range Rovers are the choice rides for road trips. How could it get better? Simply with the creation of zero emissions for around town errands in the new Range Rover P400e PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid), offering the same level of comfort and remarkable advances in technology. We drove from New York City to the east end of Long Island enjoying the cool comfort and the handling ease of the car. Our quiet approach to the Golden Pear Bridgehampton did not go unnoticed and very quickly we had an audience around the front charging port.
Our PHEV Range Rover ties the 398-horsepower 2.0-liter gasoline engine to an electric power plant. Charging via a wall charger, which can be installed at your home, the battery will charge fully in 2 hours and 45 minutes under ideal supply conditions. Charging can also be done at regular Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, which are shown on the modified InControl navigation system. There’s also a special navigation program that chooses the most efficient route to maximize the battery’s range.
The instrument cluster display component of the Touch Pro Duo dashboard, now standard on Land Rovers, tells you how efficiently you’re driving alongside data on the power plant’s efficiency. The electric motor can work independently or work as a booster to the gasoline engine on longer journeys.
Now customers choosing Land Rover’s flagship SUV can experience zero-emission driving. The P400e offers uncompromising off-road capability as well, enabling entry into areas with restrictions for air quality, including most congestion charging zones. The two driving modes Parallel Hybrid mode and the default driving mode, combines gas and electric drive. We were able to optimize battery charge or fuel economy by utilizing one of two charge management functions.
The Electric Vehicle mode had us running around the Hamptons solely on the electric motor using the energy stored in the battery, the ideal solution for quiet, zero-emission journeys. Range Rover.
