Lexus LC500

Make a Statement

It is no secret that the Lexus LC500 is one of the sexist cars on the road today. With a design that captures the rapture of fashion aficionados, audacious architectural fanatics, and modernist of all ilks the LC500 boldly goes. Was it the shiny and dimensional oversized statement-making mesh grille that commanded so much attention when we drove down Main Street in East Hampton? Or was it the ominous aerodynamic profile with large glass panels and blacked-out rear pillars that create the illusion of a floating roof that caused rubbernecking on the Long Island Expressway? Was it the sonic echo of our exhaust note thought the cavernous streets of New York City?

Lexus further refines its flagship coupe

It is hard to know for sure, but with certainty, I can say the brilliant exterior finish of our Lexus LC500 did nothing to deter the gwakers. Our flare yellow LC 500 is best admired at rest when time can be taken to admire the lines and details, while in motion, and at speed, this hovering anomaly is truly stunning. Yet it is what is inside that gives this beauty emotional heft. The exclusive seats designed with a two-part construction technique features a seatback that drapes over the shoulders and securely cradles that back in place on curvy roads and turns. The driver’s command area is sleek, race car reminiscent, stimulating, and enticing.

Bespoke Saddle Tan interior

The high-quality finish of the upholstery, tech trim materials, and intricate detailing in the LC500 reflect the signature Takumi craftsmanship. The attention to detail is articulate and that of the DNA of every Lexus. Details that are both visible and tactile including hand stitching of the leather-wrapped gearshift lever and the draping treatment of the Alcantara door panel trim and numerous other details, both large and minute impressed us at every turn. While being the envy of onlookers is fun, it was our ‘See Ya’ acceleration from the 5.0 liter, naturally aspirated V8 engine that propelled us form 0-60 mph is just 4.4 seconds that was our most smugly satisfying experience in the Lexus LC500.
