The jet set glamour of the 1960’s is alive at the TWA Hotel, located at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, set to open this May. The 512 midcentury modern-inspired guest rooms located in brand new buildings behind the 1962 Eero Saarinen-designed landmark will be the heart of this chic hotel. Set to open on May 15, 2019, the hotel will officially fete their opening with a grand opening celebration this fall. With room rates starting at $249 the TWA Hotel will create a buzz with both business travelers and short stay visitors to NYC. Many will come just to experience a stay at this newly retro hotel.
At the TWA Hotel the rooftop infinity pool and observation deck is inspired by the infinity edge pool at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes,France, the swimming spot has a beach entry and underwater seating — not to mention a gleaming TWA logo mosaic in the signature colors of gold and red. The infinity pool and its 10,000-square-foot observation deck sits on the horizon of a thrilling scene — JFK’s bustling Runway 4 Left/22 Right, with views all the way to Jamaica Bay. “Our rooftop pool provides a JFK runway view that rivals an air traffic controller’s vantage point,” says Tyler Morse, CEO and Managing Partner of MCR and MORSE Development. “There’s simply no better place for plane-spotting — and enjoying a cocktail — in the world.”
This spring, the TWA Hotel will also offer reservations for shorter day stays, providing JFK travelers on layovers a place to shower, catch up on email, dine at The Paris Café by Jean-Georges and hit the 10,000-square-foot-gym or rooftop pool before heading into Manhattan for meetings or discovery. Making a long-distance call on their rewired vintage rotary phones will mark a remembrance of things past for some, and for all it will make a unique Instagram moment.
How about this? After that LAX red-eye arriving at 6am depart to the hotel, skip the rush hour traffic on the Belt Parkway and the Van Wyck Expressway and enjoy coffee and breakfast.
Restoring the TWA Hotel is a labor of love for our entire team,” says Tyler Morse, CEO of MCR and MORSE Development. “We are counting down the days until the landmark building, dark since 2001, is filled with life again.” With six restaurants and eight bars, including The Paris Cafe by Jean-Georges, an Intelligentsia coffee bar and coffee carts throughout the hotel grounds, groovy shops, a 50,000 square feet of event space, including a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, rooftop pool and observation deck, a 10,000-square-foot fitness center and a Lockheed Constellation L-1649A transformed into a cocktail lounge The fabulous team behind this hotel MCR and MORSE Development is based in New York City and is the sixth-largest hotel owner-operator in the United States with 85 premium-branded hotels across 26 states and 67 cities, including the The High Line Hotel, an adaptive reuse hotel in Manhattan.
